Music video: Autorickshaw 'Hare Shiva'

I met Ed Hanley, tabla player and member of the Canadian band Autorickshaw at a rehearsal for choreographer Nova Bhattacharya's 'Infinite Storms' (a show I was not part of). Ed asked me to dance in a music video for one of the songs from Autorickshaw's soon-to-be-released album. 'Hare Shiva' is written and composed by Dylan Bell--I met him and Suba Sankaran on the day we shot the video in August 2017.

For the last few years I have been interested in the layers of translation in Odissi--interpreting Sanskrit or Odiya poems through movement as well as the process of offering explanantions in English or other languages familiar to our audiences. This was my first attempt at creating Odissi movements to English lyrics.
